Located in the upper area of a small municipality in the interior of Valencia, with an irregular network of streets of Arab origin, and especially, with excellent views of the hills and the Valley that forms the Turia River as it passes through the town.Save this picture!© Adrian Mora MarotoWe find an old one-storey house and a beautiful garden of bougainvillea on a plot with a large gap, and nearby homes of a certain age and little interest. An introvert project is proposed, with a prismatic piece closed on three sides, and fully open to the best views. In this way, housing preserves maximum privacy from the street and from neighboring homes, while from the two floors it is fully open.Save this picture!Ground floor planSave this picture!First floor planIn addition, the volume comprising the home is raised with the intention of resolving in itself the unevenness of the plot, generating access to housing from the two levels and leading to a rational division of the program, with parking and leisure area in ground floor, and night and day area on the top floor, which has access from the street level. Both floors are joined by a staircase, whose development is proposed in an inclined lateral annex volume.Save this picture!© Adrian Mora MarotoThe upper floor is constituted as a pure white volume, with a large cantilever on the front side, and open on the terraces that link to the living room and kitchen. This white prism ‘flies’ over an anthracite gray slate plinth on which the side ramps rest, and which vanishes on the front side, leaving it completely open on the cantilevered porch and in the multi-purpose glazed room.Save this picture!© Adrian Mora MarotoThe introverted character of the house, which although insinuated through the front wall slats and through the bougainvillea garden, does not allow to recognize it further, it also extends to the interior of the house. In this way, a surprise effect occurs when advancing through the great hallway – traversing the night area that remains hidden – you reach the day area, as a single large open space with excellent views of the hills and the Valley.Save this picture!© Adrian Mora MarotoThe day area of the upper floor and the ground floor are connected by the lateral staircase, with access through a multipurpose space, attached to the porch-cantilever and facing the outdoor pool.In the interior, very pure and sober environments are generated, with large-format porcelain pavements, white vertical coverings, white roofs with integration of hidden installations, and with indirect linear lighting. They also have great natural lighting from the south, protected by the large cantilever and the front terraces.Save this picture!© Adrian Mora MarotoOutside, garden boxes, green areas and landscaped terraces of the plot background are kept, and even the vehicle ramp is materialized with a mix of concrete and natural grass giving rise to a natural environment, which fuses with the long views, and which contrasts with the sophistication of the block built. And of course, the bougainvilleas that separate and unite the house with its street are preserved…Save this picture!© Adrian Mora MarotoProject gallerySee allShow lessCall for entries to the International Design Competition for New Gwanghwamun SquareBuilt Projects & MasterplansChallenge Studio’s Award-Winning Design Envisions a New Residential TypologyUnbuilt Project Share ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/903704/buganvilla-house-ruben-muedra-estudio-de-arquitectura Clipboard CopyHouses•Valencia, Spain Save this picture!© Adrian Mora Maroto+ 25Curated by Danae Santibañez Share ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/903704/buganvilla-house-ruben-muedra-estudio-de-arquitectura Clipboard Buganvilla House / Ruben Muedra Estudio de Arquitectura Year: Projects ArchDaily Area: 450 m² Year Completion year of this architecture project 2018 Manufacturers: Cosentino, KEIM, Argenta, Argenta Ceramica, Arkoslight, Ceadesign, Cortizo, Duravit, Finsa, Knauf, LG Electronics, SIGA, Nuprotec, Parex-Group, Pierinelli, RIALTA, SGG CLIMALIT, Trox, ZHENDER, singular kitchen Products translation missing: en-US.post.svg.material_description “COPY” CopyAbout this officeRuben Muedra Estudio de ArquitecturaOfficeFollowProductsGlassConcrete#TagsProjectsBuilt ProjectsSelected ProjectsResidential ArchitectureHousesValènciaSpainPublished on October 17, 2018Cite: “Buganvilla House / Ruben Muedra Estudio de Arquitectura” [Casa Buganvilla / Ruben Muedra Estudio de Arquitectura] 17 Oct 2018. There are variations in residential design according to environmental and social context that can be effected into residential design. This project is located in Bangkok which has high density, limited green area and lack of transportation. Except the limited space of the condominium which expended vertically, “Town Home” is trend to be a general type of residential design in Bangkok as well as “Apostrophy’s” the multi-disciplinary design firm which have been experimented for both of their office design until their lasted fully residential project “Casa Lawa” which own by Mr.Pantavit Lawaroungchok, Design/ Managing Director of Apostrophy’s and also the owner.Save this picture!© BKFirstly, the intention of “Casa Lawa” was to establish a residential space that would reconcile architectural solution to an artistic and functional need refer to the word “Casa” means Residential and “Lawa” is stand for “Lawaroungchok”, the owner’s family name. So, overall space would be relaxing and lively for all family members within a narrow stripped plan of “Town Home”. Moreover, the pronunciation of “Lawa” is similar to “Lava” in English that inspired the designer to select “Red” and “Gold” as a main color scheme, adding with experimental special feature as following:1. Backyard vertical garden2. Triple space3. Mega size furniture4. Eclectic collection5. Chinoiseries6. Smart home & Moon roofSave this picture!© Aday Bulletin LifeWelcoming with a “Triple Space” is open void at the center while a convertible car like “Moon Roof” has been installed at the top allow natural light through the interior space. Furthermore, the light can be control the brightness and its direction by the automatic system. Then focusing on the interior decoration, the designer used the terms “Chinoiseries” to explain this style. It means the reinterpretation of oriental ornament into western tradition. Thus, the overall space would be elegance as the Western style but still keep the soul of the East. Meanwhile, the furniture has been selected from Thai designer who’s the owner aim to support and promote local creativity. It is including Tibetan sofa, Exotic chair and astonishing “Mega Size” table. Normally, its size might not suited to the space but it can be accomplished by designer’s experience that made the space more elegance and adaptable.Save this picture!IsometricIn addition, there is personal “Eclectic Collection” which has been collect from a various part of the world which has some story behind them. And especially, a series of painting in collaborated design with Apostrophy’s and Mr.Jackkrit Anantakul, Thai Graphic Designer with the same mention to sarcastic the decorative style of half Thai- Chinese who favor in a figure of cruel and powerful animal such as Lion, Tiger and dragon wishing them bring a power and good luck to house. That inspired him to design this painting by minimizing the detail, recomposing, and adding with typology as Mr.Jackkrit’s signature style. His work is full of the sense of humor but also hide some the oriental philosophy deeply. There are 18 pieces in this series which have been display in different floor level by concept as following; First floor has the concept of the earth and the origin of things, while the second floor is about habitat and terrestrial animal, and the third is for air, wind and insect. Not only has the specific design, this collection been added more value and the spirit of the East by gold finishing with the local specialist artisan.Save this picture!© Baan-lae-suanThen, at the backside of the house, there is “Backyard Vertical Garden” which 7.5 meters height. According to the urban lifestyle which has busy life and isolates with nature, so this garden has been designed to fulfill the gap between life and nature. It is appropriate for a limited space, especially “Townhome”. Beginning with plant selection, the designer has been experimented on growing the various species of plant as well as watering and fertilizing system has been adapted for the best solution. And also, UV Lamp has been place on ground for every plant can growth equally.Save this picture!© Baan-lae-suanIn conclusion, the uniqueness of “Casa Lawa” is “Combination of opposite things” where the East meets West, where technology meets nature, and where the traditional craft meets radical design. The designer can blend it together and accent its dominant, simultaneously within the limited space of typical “Townhome”.Project gallerySee allShow lessOlympic Sports Center Of Pingdu Qingdao / Shanghai Jiao Tong University Urban Planni…Selected ProjectsMACQUARIE R&D CENTRE / CUN DESIGNSelected ProjectsProject locationAddress:Bangkok, ThailandLocation to be used only as a reference.
